William Taft - 1909-1913
-Serves as governor of the Philippines from 1900 to 1903, at McKinley's appointment
-Continues Roosevelt's progressive policy
-Taft is criticized by progressives due to his conservative nature, while conservatives criticize him for continuing the Square Deal
-Begins what is known as "Dollar Diplomacy," using financial as well as military power to advance US interests
-Roosevelt's change to the Progressive Party in 1912 destroys Taft's hopes for reelection
-Appointed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in 1921, a post which he holds until his 1930 death
