-Restores the dignity of the office after Harding's scandals and debauchery
-Refuses to aid farmers in alleviating low crop prices, believing in limited government
-Reverts to a pre-Wilson isolationist foreign policy
-Possibly responsible for the depression of the 1930s due to his refusal to mediate the unrestrained economic boom of his presidency
