Franklin Roosevelt - 1933-1945
-Elected for an unprecedented and unequaled four presidential terms; dies in office during the fourth
-Remembered for his efforts to end the depression and leading the nation through World War II
-Upon election, Roosevelt departs from Hoover's rugged individualism and launches the New Deal to aid struggling citizens
-AAA, CCC, NRA, FDIC, WPA, SSA
-Declares a Bank Holiday to prevent another financial crash in 1933, and congress passes the Emergency Banking Act
-After criticism mounts, Roosevelt begins a second New Deal in which corporate interests are viewed much more negatively
-The Supreme Court begins attacking the New Deal, and so Roosevelt proposes a "Court Packing" policy that wins little support and even disillusions some Democrats
-Roosevelt consistently advocates European intervention leading up to World War II, but is stymied by the Neutrality Acts
